Superstar - The Making Of…

Each year ISN hosts a (historicaly well attended) reception on the first Friday in January which falls on the 7th or later. This year Jan 7 is a Friday so the reception will be that day.

In past years this reception has been characterized by the confluence of unlikely people—I say that meaning largish groups who rarely get to see each other have a common connection to ISN. In the past the Premier, MLAs, senior government officials, the unemployed, stock-car racing teams, oodles of members of the I.T. community, and a host of social organizations and NGOs have come out. It always surprises me and gives me hope for the coming year. Truly ISNs annual reception has far more to do with who comes than who’s hosting (in fact many never know what’s going on, they simply come with friends).

  1. What a wonderful idea! Thank you Kevin!! Your idea is very generous. It will be fabulous to see the slides and fabulous to see the people again. I hope ACT members take you up on the offer.

Be sure to let Kevin know if you would like to attend the ISN function and for him to do the slideshow. To respond to him directly, click on the underlined ko just under the original posting.

  2. Hi Gerry,

Due primarily to illness over the holidays and a huge amount of preparation I must complete on other projects before the 9th of January, I am writing to inform you that I will not be presenting a “making of Superstar” slide show on the 7th as I had ~tentatively~ agreed to do.

Had there been an ovewhelming response I would persist but given that there are perhaps five confirmed rsvps it is (gratefully) an easier decision to make.

Perhaps ACT will arrange something for the summer or fall (perhaps as part of the hype for another show).

Please circulate this in case some who had not replied still had plans to attend.

    Thank you for everything,

  3. That is too bad Kevin. But I can understand your reluctance to put in the extra work if you have received such small feedback. I am disappointed. I think it would have been fun. Thanks anyway!!

  4. Geesh!  It’s not a reluctance!

  5. Sorry about that Kevin. I didn’t mean that the way it may have come out.

As you mentioned, if there had been a number of people who had indicated they would be attending, then you would have ‘found the time, somehow’ despite not really having the time to spare.

Hope you had a good New Year’s Eve!

  6. I’m fairly sure we can use the slide show as an excuse for a hamburger munch some time in the summer… in the mean time I’m going to look into the possibility (this may be more than I want to do while I’m traveling, nevertheless) to put the whole show on the web—music included.  Y’never know.  (and there are some copyright permissions I’d need to secure before doing so).

Thanks for all the help and thanks to everyone who made this show happen.  I’m certain the karma will last for years and years!
