Waterfront Festival

The Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre is busily preparing for 2005’s Summer on the Waterfront Festival, running at the Summerside venue this July and August.
Promising to delight islanders and visitors alike, the festival is heavy on home-grown talent, and heavier on variety.  Jubilee manager Maurice Gallant says, “This year’s ‘Summer on the Waterfront Festival’ lineup reflects the objectives of the Jubilee Theatre – to provide a venue for the development and promotion of Island based performance art, and to expose our community and our visitors to Island culture and entertainment.  We’re offering a wide selection of musical genres, as well as top-notch community theatre productions, all at family-friendly prices.”

Theatre performances at the Jubilee this summer:

Comedy troupe Sketch 22 performs original sketches that uncover priceless gems of Island life.  The creative wits of members Rob MacDonald, Graham Putnam, Jason Rogerson, Andrew Sprague, Dennis Trainor and Josh Weale deftly capture the idiosyncrasies of their Island home. Get ready to laugh, Saturdays, July 9 & 23, Aug 6 & 20, at 8:00 p.m.

The Jubilee Players deliver up the finest in community theatre, with the sidesplitting farce “Move Over Mrs. Markham” August 3-31, Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m.  This local theatre troupe, originally based in Kensington, has been steadily gaining fans and friends with every spirited, fun-filled performance.

Tickets are now on sale for all listed performances, and can be purchased at the Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre Box Office, local 888-2500 or toll free 1-800-708-6505.
