Tom Jackson and Famous People Players

The next ACT Out is scheduled for Friday, Feb 27th at the Confederation Centre Main Stage.

The next ACT Out is scheduled for Friday, Feb 27th where we will take in An Evening with Tom Jackson and the Famous People Players at the Confederation Centre Main Stage or “Afro-Musica. Both events take place at the Confed Centre on the same evening.

The Famous People Players will present their show ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll’ featuring the music of the 50s, 60s and seventies in an explosion of laughter, colour and dance.

For those of you who don’t know, The Famous People Players is a group of folks with developmental challenges, who have been trained to manipulate life-sized puppets. Florescent paint and black light make their particularly striking.

Award winning Canadian performer Tom Jackson will touch funny bones as well as hearts with his show ‘Tom Foolery’, a show filled with comedy, stories, theatre and songs. Appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2000, Jackson is well known for his music and for his humanitarian work.

Afro-Musica is a seven-piece Afro-pop show band formed in 1992 by bandleader Edo-King, also known as Ed Matwawana, that combines traditional and contemporary African sounds and rhythms and expresses them through music and dance (by times the audience has been known to join in the dancing).

ACT members wishing to meet for supper should arrive at Shaddy’s on University by 5:45. Please contact Janet Macdonald at 892-4006 by Feb 24th if you plan on eating with the group so she can let Shaddy’s know how many people to expect
