TheatrePEI’s Winter Workshops: Acting and Directing / Elements Of Acting
This course will appeal to actors interested in expanding and reinforcing their range of acting styles. Six two hour evenings will be spent exploring such topics as:
Tuning up - The Actor as Instrument
Improv Essentials
Truth in Modern Drama
The Serious Business of Comedy
Less Is More - Acting for the Camera
Demystifying Shakespeare
The course will be an on-your-feet interactive endeavour. Each session will begin with a physical and vocal warm-up and will include exploration, exercise and performance elements. Comfortable clothes and shoes are
recommended.
Instructed by Wade Lynch. Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, dates from February 4th to March 17th (excluding February 18th) at the Island Dance Academy, Richmond Street, Charlottetown.
Class Fee: $90.00 for TheatrePEI members, $115.00 for non-members

TheatrePEI’s Winter Workshop: THE DIRECTOR’S CHAIR
This course is the “101” of directing essentials. It will define the basics of scenic action and intention and help guide directors through the process of getting actors off the page and onto the stage. The course will conclude with directed presentations of scenes. Participants must be prepared to take on acting roles for fellow directors.
The six two hour seminar sessions will include:
Which Way is up? - Defining the Acting Space
Baffle with Bullsh**t - Knowing the piece
Because I said so - Motivation and the actor
Star-maker - casting considerations
The Real Work - managing rehearsals
Scene Presentations
Instructed by Wade Lynch. Monday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, dates from February 2th to March 15th (excluding February 16th) at the MacKenzie Theatre, corner of University and Grafton, Charlottetown.

Instructor Wade Lynch is a twenty-five year theatrical veteran. He has performed and directed in theatres across the country and earned his degree in Theatre Education from the College of performing Arts at Western
Washington university. Wade is well known to Island audiences for his work in the Charlottetown Festival’s productions of A CLOSER WALK WITH
PATSY CLINE, ANNE OF GREEN GABLES, THE LEGEND OF THE DUMBELLS, EIGHT TO THE BAR, 18 WHEELS, PUTTIN’ ON THE RITZ and ARIANNA. He recently completed production on the short film, THE BOX BENEATH THE STAIRS, which he wrote and produced.
