The Big Easy /  Big Hurt/  Big Heart/ fundraiser comes to PEI

The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina continues to cause enormous havoc down south, sparking a worldwide response. The Prince Edward Island music community has once again answered a call for support.

On Thursday, September 15th, under the BIG tent we will host a BIG concert for those struggling in the Big Easy and the Gulf coast.

Join us for a musical fundraiser in support of the Red Cross at the big white tent, Confederation Landing, graciously donated by the PEI International Shellfish Festival

From 6pm until 10pm, the best in Island talent will be featured.

They’re coming together to assist the victims of the worst hurricane to ever hit our friends south of the border. The rockers, Big Tilda, will headline the event, hosted by Eric MacEwen and Nils Ling.

They will introduce some of the best musical talent PEI has to offer. That talent includes the amazing fiddler and step-dancer, Stephanie Cadman from the hit musical, Canada Rocks.  The electric blues band, The Blueprints; Jim Hornby and the Idlers; Robert Arsenault and his Acadian friends, The Lazy Jacks and many more entertainers will be there.

CBC employees, members of the Canadian Media Guild, will be there to greet their long, but not so lost, friends.

A very special guest will also be there. Celebrity Chef, Alon Shaya, direct from the French Quarter in New Orleans, in town as a special guest for the PEI International Shellfish Festival, will prepare a Louisiana Jambalaya and other Cajun delights in the new Culinary Institute of Canada’s food pavilion, right next door. Famous PEI Malpeque oysters and Island Blue Mussels will, of course, be on the evening menu.

In the spirit of the International Shellfish Festival, we’ll celebrate good friends, good times, good music…. to assist our friends down south and we’ll do it east coast style.

See you there, come early! One night only, 6 to 10, Thursday, September 15th at the big white tent, historic Confederation Landing Park. Tables, seating and full bar service available.

Donations to the Canadian Red Cross.

Under the auspices of The PEI International Shellfish Festival, The Canadian Red Cross, Canadian Media Guild and the PEI Music Awards Association.
