The Smile Company has been touring professional theatre in Toronto for thirty years. They bring live theatre to nursing homes, hospitals and seniors’ residences ‘giving seniors something to smile about.’ They specialize in Canadiana, reintroducing Canadians to their own heroes and heroines.

As a writer/performer Hank Stinson has attempted, over the years, to reacquaint Islanders with several great Canadians; Robert W. Service, Billy Bishop, Robert McClure, Stephen Leacock, and last but not least, Lucy Maud Montgomery.

In the fall of 2005 Hank Stinson and Catherine O’Brien will be performing Hank’s two person show on L.M. Montgomery, “Through the Gable Window;” in Toronto and bringing it back home for an Island tour in December.

In order to give Islanders an idea of what to expect, Hank Stinson and Heidi Jury presented “Feast of Stephen,” the wit and humour of Stephen Leacock in

January and will be performing ‘Flash in the Pan,’ the poetry of Robert W. Service, in February.

The shows will serve as a calling card for The Atlantic Smile Company, whose long range plan is to write, produce and perform Canadian Shows in PEI, to tour the Maritimes and across the country.

The Seniors Active Living Centre has become an active and enthusiastic supporter of the Atlantic Smile Initiative and will co-host a Fund Raising Gala at UPEI in May. The Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty has come onboard as a major sponsor and will be announcing fund raising events in the near future.
