Toronto - With Toronto’s Arts Week celebrations underway, the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT) announces Canada On Stage Online at - a new, free, searchable database of upcoming professional Canadian theatre productions, workshops, staged readings and festivals happening across the nation.

This easy-to-use resource will help Torontonians and all Canadians find theatre events coming up in their community or a city they are about to visit. And what better time to spend an evening at the theatre than during Arts Week, which happens to be timed perfectly to match the start of the fall season for many theatres.

Canada On Stage Online also houses past events for theatre researchers. As time goes on, the database will grow to include productions as far back as 1975, while upcoming productions will continue to be listed by PACT’s 120 Member theatres.

Searchable by theatre company name, title, date range and keywords including names of Directors, Actors and Playwrights, this resource provides a unique, national service that goes beyond a playbill-type web database.

Canada On Stage Online is a project of the PACT Communications Centre (PCC) made possible by the support of The Ontario Trillium Foundation. It is based on the print directory Canada On Stage, whose last edition “1986-1988” was published by PCC in 1991.

The Professional Association of Canadian Theatres is a member-driven organization that serves as the collective voice of professional Canadian theatres. For the betterment of Canadian theatre, PACT provides leadership, national representation and a variety of programs and practical assistance to member companies, enabling members to do their own creative work.

The PACT Communications Centre is the charitable branch of PACT and responsible for the development of theatre resources and publications for Members, the theatre community and the general public.
