Friends at CBC Repeat Request for Assistance

Dear Gerry:

Over 1,000 messages asking Paul Martin to invest in a new CBC with strong grassroots have been received by the Prime Minister’s Office since my note to you last week.

That’s a real achievement and a loud signal, but the move in Ottawa to cut is strong.  And, there is another reason why it’s more important than ever that we take action now.

We have learned that CBC President Rabinovitch is trying to persuade the government to give CBC more money, but he wants to spend $4 on network programs—largely out of Toronto and Montreal—for every $1 to strengthen grassroots programming in cities across the land.

The Rabinovitch plan will do little to repair the damage a decade of budget cuts have caused to CBC’s grassroots.

Please join with the hundreds of other FRIENDS supporters who have sent a message to the Prime Minister calling for a new CBC with strong grassroots.

To send a message, visit our Action Centre at:

It’s easy to use, it’s fast and when you enter your postal code, your MP will automatically get a copy of your letter.  You can either send the draft we have prepared or, preferably, take a moment to edit it with your personal comments.  And please, ask your friends and neighbours to join our campaign by providing them this link:

Yours sincerely,

Ian Morrison
