Hao nao iu?
Wow! It’s Friday afternoon, 4 November, at the CUSO office, harbourside in Honiara, Solomon Islands, South Pacific.
The CUSO office just hooked into broad-band, and so it is possible to use the Web cheap. So what a kick we’re getting out of visiting the ACT website.
Because the water is being rationed here in Honiara—we get water about an hour a day—we feel justified in toasting you all with an end-of-week beer.
Just wanted to say Hi and How are you (Hao nao iu) ... and Lukim iufala (See yous)

Happy Hallowe’en!
Last night, in fact, our Canadian CUSO gang got together at our house for a party – carved a jack-o-lantern, dressed up as beach-goers, bobbed for mangoes and starfruit (instead of apples), ate a stuffed-pumpkin dish, told a ghost story or two, and gave out treat-bags.
We’ve been here on Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands for almost two months, and of course we now have a somewhat larger (though still limited) stock of experience than we had when I wrote about a month ago.
