Congratulations on Production of JC Superstar

Congratulations on the excellent production of Jesus Christ Superstar.  Everything was superb, especially the singing. I have seen many productions of JCS, but I can honestly say that Jeremy Hickey was by far the best performer of Jesus.  What a voice!!  When he sang Gethsemane, the hair on my neck stood up!  Looking to the future, how about “Les Miserables”  Your troupe would make an excellent job of this great show, I am sure.  Maybe Jeremy as Jean Valjean?  Just imagine his voice with those wonderful songs.

Magnificent!!!  Well done and kudos to everyone involved. Also hearty thanks for giving the time and effort to entertain so completely!

Dawn Mulcahy.

Confederation Centre Presents Tempting Providence”

The Confederation Centre of the Arts will present the heart-warming play Tempting Providence on the Mainstage on Friday, November 19, at 8 p.m.  Commissioned by Theatre Newfoundland Labrador, the play tells the true story of Nurse Myra Bennett, a British-born nurse who came to Newfoundland after learning of the desperate need for medical aid in rural communities. Bennett arrived in Daniel’s Harbour on the Northern Peninsula in the spring of 1921. She signed on for a year but stayed for over 50. Known throughout Newfoundland and Labrador as the “Florence Nightingale of the North,” she delivered more than 700 babies, extracted at least 5,000 teeth, set broken limbs, and performed kitchen table operations by lamplight. She married local merchant Angus Bennett and had three children. She died in 1990 at the age of 100.
